All American Boy

I have been meaning to take this photo for a LONG time. I wanted to do it for Father's Day for Michael with a picture of his dad (who served in the army) and didn't get it done. Then I wanted to do it for July 4th, but the 4th has come and gone. I was cleaning out our closets and found the big flag so I decided to do an impromptu shoot....

This is the only good one I got but I think it is a keeper :)
God Bless America and all of our troops!

staying busy without daddy

Here are a few pics of what Hunter does during the day to keep himself occupied. Enjoy!

Oh, and by the way...I have gotten a lot of flack for my last post. I have three things to say: 1.It really isn't THAT bad 2.You know you are just as guilty (I am just the only one honest enough to admit it!) and 3.That's what happens when your husband decides to leave you to sell a house clear across the country!

the world of blogging and facebook

Every night I put Hunter to bed around 7:00pm and start thinking about hundreds of things I should be doing...but what do I do? I blog. Usually I am not actually writing on my blog, I am looking at other blogs. I spend hours upon hours reading my friend's blogs, their friend's blogs, and their friends blogs (ok, maybe it isn't quite that extreme)! I have decided it is a sickness...really! I find it fascinating (or maybe just pathetic) that I can actually become attached to people I have never even met. A good friend from college has a Bible study leader that is adopting a boy from China. I have never met this family and yet I have checked their blog every day to read updates on bringing their son home. I find it amazing that because we have a common faith in a gracious Heavenly Father I can actually rejoice with them as they journey through this Life. Still, I think this "peering" into other people's lives is a bit crazy. Maybe it is my desire to always know the inside scoop, the details, the gossip...my grandmother used to say, "It isn't gossip, it's human interst stories"....I think I agree with her. Regardless, I decided to write this little ditty tonight and do something other than blogging......

Soooo...I took my cousin Shane's advice and finally opened a FaceBook account!!! HAHA. I originally thought this would be a good idea so that I could stay in touch with my cousins when we move back to Colorado and to enter this "world" that everyone seems to be a part of. I have been very reluctant to join FaceBook. I really don't know what it is that creeps me out about it but something has kept me from joining. I took the plunge tonight and set up my account and I am still wondering...what exactly is so great about FaceBook? I get that you can find people and make them your "friends" but beyond that I think I am missing something. I guess I was hoping it would be as cool as blogging...lots of pictures, updates on what life looks like now, fancy backgrounds...you get the idea. I'm still waiting to be impressed...and wondering why I was so afraid of joining.

I know this blog entry is much different than the usual but I thought I would share my random thoughts...I think it is official that I am REALLY missing Michael :)
