update on Cora Paige

Hi friends. Thank you all for your prayers during Cora's surgery. She came out of surgery and the doctor's were able to remove the tumor/mass by her kidneys. The unfortunate news is that they believe little Cora's liver is worse off than they originally anticipated. Not sure exactly what that means but they will have the mass biopsied, and the liver, bone marrow, and tissue examined carefully. At this point it sounds like they are going to have to wait up to 10 days to find out the results from all of the tests. More than likely they will begin chemo treatments on Monday. Please continue to pray for the family and for continued healing for Cora. It sounds like there are two forms of the cancer they think Cora has and one is harder to deal with than the other. Let's pray that it is the lesser of the evils and that Cora's body can begin healing quickly and that the toxic cancer will be removed with the chemo treatments. Pray for strength for baby Cora and also for her family. Let's keep them all in our hearts and prayers and lift them to the Lord as often as they come to mind.

Michael and I will be leaving first thing in the morning to make the drive to Witchita. Hunter will be staying here with Nana & Papa and Granny Judy. We know he is in good hands.

prayers for Cora

I just got off the phone with a dear friend of mine and all I can think to do is ask for your prayers. Jess and her husband, Joel, have a sweet baby girl named Cora who is 10 months old. In the last 24 hours their lives have been turned upside down. Cora has had a string of ear infections that were not getting better and a few random black eyes. Jess took Cora in for a check-up and they now believe that she has cancer. Originally, they thought that there was about a 90% chance that it was leukemia but they are now thinking it is another form of cancer. I don't have many details but they are thinking chemo treatments will have to start soon. Cora is having an exploratory surgery done today around noon (Kansas time) and I am asking everyone to say a prayer for her. Please pray that the Doctor's would be able to find out exactly what is going on in little Cora's body and that the Lord would guide and direct thier hands. Pray that the Lord would protect Cora from any complications. Pray that the cancer has not been too aggressive and that it has not spread. Ask that He would be with Jess and Joel and all of their family and that He would give them peace in the midst of this storm...and pray, for a miracle.

flu, flu, go away...

We have always been a pretty healthy family...aside from Michael's bout with West Nile Virus that nearly took his life (I would rather forget all about that one).

But lately I feel like we have been plagued with the flu. Before Christmas we were all REALLY sick and then earlier this week it hit us again. I was out for the day and Michael was swamped and none of the grandparents were available to help out (I thought that was one of the reasons we moved back!) but Hunter was a trooper and watched more Elmo and Baby Einstein than any child should while I laid on the floor in agony. Michael has a touch of it today...

With that said, I haven't had much time for blogging. I have adorable videos of Hunter WALKING (yeah!), updates, and lots of cute pics to post but it will have to wait a little while longer. The house is a mess, the laundry is almost unbearable, we have errands to run, groceries to get, and Hunter's follow up booster shot today.

So why am I blogging right now you ask? Sympathy, my friends. Sympathy. :)
