We were celebrating Michael and the amazing father that he is to our boys when I got a call from my sister saying that my grandpa had taken a turn for the worse.
She said I needed to get in the car and go...right then.
I prayed I would make it in time to see him one last time and talk with him.
He was unresponsive when I got there but still with us.
Family surrounded him and he was not alone.
So very thankful for that.
He was just shy of turning 88.
We are going to miss him terribly.
And somehow I am full of regrets about how we should have made more time....
He was such a wonderful grandpa.
Funny...really, really, really funny.

An amazing story teller.
Did I mention he was funny?
Oh, and he cussed like a sailor.
But I know he had Jesus in his heart and I have hope that I will see him again.
No matter what the age and how prepared we think we are...
It's just never easy.
He will be greatly missed.

Laura, what a beautiful tribute to your grandpa. Hugs. He sounds like a wonderful and special man and I know he will be greatly missed!! So glad you had the chance to be with him and send him off to Heaven. Hugs to your family during this time!! Jen
3 things:
1. I'm so sorry for your loss. No matter how long someone has lived, it's always hard to say "see you later."
2. I love that your Grandpa cussed like a sailor.
3. I think it must have been extra special for your Grandpa to meet his Father on Father's Day. I can't wait for heaven's parties. :)
Just wanted you to know that I am thinking about your family and praying for you guys this week as you remember your grandpa. The pictures are so sweet...I am so glad you have those.
sorry to hear about this laura. i'm praying for your heart, that you won't let the regrets creep in, but instead that you'd be filled with all of the things that you were able to do, the pictures, the memories. love ya.
I'm so sorry for your loss! There never is enough time, we always want more.
